Kampar With The Cell Group

Firstly, I should like to say that there shall be no more posts with pictures of the kids, since someone went and alarmed the wife to the dangers of doing so. So, although we've been down this road before, I guess it's better to err on the side of caution. All previous posts with their pictures have been taken down. It's sad that we live in such a paranoid world, but such is the reality.

Anyway, recently our cell group arranged a trip to Kampar. Actually, there's lots to do in Kampar, for the outdoorsy. There's the famous gua tempurung, there's a local Kampar waterfall, if you don't wish to tackle the larger Lata Kinjang. You can go fishing, in one of the lakes, fly kites in the large open areas near the Grand Kampar Hotel, which is where we stayed. The hotel is spanking new, and very comfortable, and reasonably priced.

The Rooftop Swimming Pool of the Hotel

Gua tempurung is really quite fascinating, world class. They offer 3 tours, of varying difficulty. Fascinating stalagmite and stalagtite formations that really tickle the imagination. At the end of the easy tour, there is a fascinating wind tunnel, that seems to blow aircond temperature winds perpetually.\

The stream just outside the Gua Tempurung. The stream runs through part of the caves.

In line with VMY 2007, why not go for a trip to Kampar. Food is cheap and good, and it's only 2 hours from here. The city kids will have a whale of a time going back to nature.

The local Kampar waterfall. Clean crisp cool waters. Such a treat for city dwellers.

I can totally relate to Bee's fears. Since the Myanmar child nap case, I haven't taken the kids to Lake Gardens because there are split seconds when you do lose sight of them and anything could happen... Just thinking about it sends shivers down my spine...
